Staying Safe During Online Tutoring
A Guide for Students and Parents
Frontier Tuition's Online Safety & Etiquette Guide
At Frontier Tuition, all of our tutoring is conducted online—giving students the flexibility to learn from anywhere. With that flexibility comes the responsibility to ensure every session is safe, respectful, and professionally run.

Whether you're a student or a parent, this guide outlines how we keep our online environment secure and what you can do to help create a positive experience.

1. A Safe and Respectful Learning Environment
Every Frontier Tuition session is built on mutual respect, professionalism, and clear boundaries.
All of our tutors agree to the following standards:
-
They will only communicate through official, secure channels such as email, the tutor portal, and virtual meeting platforms (e.g. Zoom, Google Meet, etc.) .
-
They will never request personal contact details like phone numbers or social media.
-
They will never partake in any personal communication with students outside of scheduled sessions.
-
They will never record sessions without explicit permission from the student and/or the parent(s).

2. Use Only Approved Platforms
All sessions are conducted on trusted, secure platforms such as:
-
Zoom
-
Google Meet
-
Microsoft Teams
We do not permit communication through platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat, or Discord. If a tutor suggests moving to an unapproved platform, please notify us immediately.

3. Protect Your Personal Information
While our tutors are carefully screened and trained, it's important that students are also aware of how to protect themselves online.
Students should never share:
-
Their full home address or school login details
-
Personal phone numbers or private social accounts
-
Passwords or banking information
Tutors do not handle payments—our admin team will always manage that securely on your behalf.

4. Session Recordings
Frontier tutors do not record tutoring sessions by default. If a student or tutor would like to record a session (for revision purposes, for example), both parties must agree beforehand.
Recordings—when approved—are kept private and used only for educational support.

5. If Something Feels Off, Tell Us
If at any point a student feels uncomfortable during a session—whether it's due to language, tone, behaviour, or a request—they should stop the session and notify a parent or guardian right away.
We take these matters seriously, we will respond immediately and are here to support you.
