Welcome to Frontier Tuition (“we”, “us”, or “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of our website, tutoring services, and associated platforms (collectively, the “Services”). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Services.

These Terms apply to:

• Students receiving tutoring services from Frontier Tuition;

• Parents/guardians managing student accounts;

• Tutors engaged by Frontier Tuition as independent contractors;

• Anyone accessing our website or services.

1. Who We Are

Frontier Tuition is an online global tutoring service specialising in the International Baccalaureate (IB). We connect students worldwide with qualified tutors through live, one-on-one online lessons.

Our company operates globally, with lessons typically delivered via video conferencing tools such as Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams.

2. Using Our Services

By using our Services, you agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information during any registration or booking process;

• Use the Services solely for lawful, personal, and educational purposes;

• Not misuse or attempt to disrupt or bypass any part of the Services;

• Treat all tutors, students, and staff respectfully and professionally.

We reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to the Services if you breach these Terms or engage in any behaviour deemed inappropriate or harmful.

3. Lesson Packages, Payments and Use of Tutoring Hours

• Tutoring is sold in hourly packages (options primarily include 5, 10, 15, 30, 50, or 100 hours). 

• You may request a tutor and attend an introductory meeting before purchasing a package. However, no lessons may be scheduled until full payment has been made.

• Payments are processed via third-party providers (such as Stripe), and Frontier Tuition is not liable for any issues arising from payment gateways.

• Some packages may include a free first lesson. This lesson still counts as “used” in the context of refunds (see Section 4).

Each tutoring package comes with its own set of benefits and limitations. For example, smaller packages (such as 5-hour packages) may be restricted to one or two subjects, whereas larger packages (such as 100-hour packages) may be used across multiple subjects and tutors. Full details of what is included with each package are available on our Pricing page or can be provided upon request.

Despite the hourly packages, tutoring sessions do not need to be conducted in exact 1-hour blocks. Students may arrange shorter or longer sessions as needed (e.g. 30-minute, 45-minute, or 90-minute sessions), and the tutor will accurately record the time used against the student’s package. All usage is calculated in cumulative minutes, and partial sessions count toward the total hours used.

Tutors are expected to come prepared for all lessons as part of their standard service. However, if a student or parent requests that a tutor completes specific tasks outside of a scheduled lesson — such as reviewing extensive materials, writing feedback, or creating tailored resources — the tutor may, with advance notice, deduct the additional time spent from the package hours. Any such arrangements must be clearly communicated in advance between the tutor and the student (or parent), and must not be confused with regular preparation, which remains non-billable.

We may occasionally offer tutoring services outside of standard packages based on specific needs. For example, we may provide pay-as-you-go sessions (available only to existing students) or group lessons (subject to availability and demand). These offerings are provided at our sole discretion and may involve separate pricing or terms.

4. Refund Policy

Frontier Tuition offers a limited refund policy under the following conditions:

• A refund is available only if 1 hour or fewer has been used from your package, including free trial lessons.

• If more than 1 hour has been used, the package is non-refundable.

• The refund value is calculated pro-rata based on remaining hours, and may be reduced by any non-recoverable transaction or processing fees incurred by Frontier Tuition.

Refunds are processed to the original payment method and may take up to 10 business days.

5. Cancellations and No-Shows

• You may reschedule sessions by contacting your tutor with reasonable notice (at least 24 hours is preferred).

• If you miss a session without notice, the tutor reserves the right to mark it as completed and it will be deducted from your package balance.

• If a tutor misses a session, the tutor is responsible for promptly rescheduling the lesson and the session will not be deducted from your package balance.

6. Tutor Responsibilities

Tutors are engaged by Frontier Tuition as independent contractors and are not employees of the company. Tutors agree to:

• Deliver lessons with professionalism and academic integrity;

• Provide accurate and appropriate support;

• Maintain punctuality and clear communication;

• Respect student privacy and act within safeguarding guidelines.

• Not attempt to bypass the system by offering private tutoring to Frontier Tuition's students.

Frontier Tuition reserves the right to terminate a tutor’s engagement if they breach these expectations or otherwise fail to meet our standards, and may even pursue legal action for serious breaches of conduct resulting in any damages to Frontier Tuition and/or its brand.​

7. User Conduct

All users agree to:

• Treat all members of the Frontier Tuition community with respect and professionalism;

• Refrain from discriminatory, harassing, or abusive behaviour;

• Use the Services solely through Frontier Tuition systems;

• Not attempt to circumvent our platform to arrange private tutoring with a Frontier Tuition tutor.

Any attempt to bypass Frontier Tuition to arrange private lessons outside of our platform is strictly prohibited and may result in termination of services and possible legal action.

8. Privacy and Data Use

We are committed to safeguarding your personal data. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full information on:

• What personal data we collect;

• How we use, store, and protect it;

• Your data rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and other applicable privacy laws.

We use third-party services such as Teachworks, Zoom, and Stripe as part of our operations. By using the Services, you consent to data being processed through these platforms where necessary.

9. Intellectual Property

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, the intellectual property rights in tutoring sessions — including the explanations, methods, and teaching approaches — remain the property of the individual tutor who delivered the lesson. Recording, reproducing, or distributing tutoring sessions without the prior consent of both the tutor and the student is strictly prohibited. Any unauthorised recording, reproduction, or distribution of sessions is a violation of these Terms.

 

Tutors may occasionally provide supplementary study materials (e.g., notes, worksheets, revision guides). Unless the tutor explicitly states that such materials are their personal intellectual property, these materials are considered non-exclusive and may be used by the student for personal academic purposes only. Redistribution, resale, or commercial use of such materials is prohibited. If a tutor indicates that a material is their own protected intellectual property, students must obtain the tutor’s permission before copying, sharing, or modifying that material.

All branding, website content, and platform tools provided by Frontier Tuition are the exclusive property of Frontier Tuition and may not be used or replicated without permission.

10. Liability and Disclaimer

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• Frontier Tuition makes no guarantees regarding academic results or improvements;

• We are not liable for the conduct of tutors or students during or outside tutoring sessions;

• Our maximum liability for any claim is limited to the amount paid for Services.

Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit liability where it is unlawful to do so, including for death, personal injury, fraud, or gross negligence.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be effective from the date of publication on our website. By continuing to use the Services after any changes, you accept the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless local laws in your place of residence require otherwise.
